Hello everyone. Here are the minutes from the last Business Meeting.
But first, a reminder about the Full Day Sit this Saturday, June 12 at
1041 Morse St. (The Friend's Meeting House)in San Jose. Meditation will
begin at 9:00 a.m. and continue until 3:00, with a break for lunch.
(bring your own) At 3:00 Angie will preside over a short Jukai ceremony.
donnalynn will receive the precepts. Following the ceremony, tea and
sweets will be served. Your presence for any part of the day would be
welcomed.

Minutes of Floating Zendo Business meeting, San Jose 6/1/04 8:15-8:45

Members present: Angie, donnalynn, Carolyn, Dan, Regina, Samia, Pat,
Randy, Dennis, Tom, Gina, and Wendy.

October Sesshin:
Dates: 10/21-10/25 (Thursday ? Monday)

Regina and Carolyn have been researching Bay area Retreat Centers and
their availability in October. The most workable candidate is the Pema
Osul Ling retreat center in Corralitos. Regina visited the Pema Osul
Ling Retreat Center and was favorably impressed with the environment,
the convenient access and the buildings. It is a forested area located
about 7 miles south of Santa Cruz. Tibetan Buddhists manage the Center.
A discussion of which facilities to rent followed. It was decided to
rent the Sangha house plus the kitchen/dining room. It may be we will
have the center all to ourselves.

The sesshin also needs an Ino. This position would require a commitment
to the 4 sesshin days, plus advance preparations, mailings, and
planning. The Ino oversees the tenzo and works with Angie to plan the
structure of the sesshin. At this time, Jim Cave has consented to
return as our Tenzo. Carolyn Dille has offered to serve as Ino.

donnalynn suggested that the surplus in our treasury be used to
subsidize the cost of the sesshin. This would lower the price for
attendees. An idea from Gina was the use of a sliding scale for the price.

Regina expressed the need for advance site selection. Now is the time
to start looking for a Fall 2005 sesshin site. Carolyn requested that
Regina submit the results of her recent 7 month research to the Sangha,
so it could serve as a basis for the 2005 search process. Dennis has
offered to help coordinate the site search and selection for Fall 2005.

Discussion of events at Jikoji was tabled due to lack of time. It was
announced that there will be a February Parinirvana 2005 at Jikoji.
Angie could be the teacher.

It was moved and seconded that donnalynn issue a check for the deposit
at Pema Osul. donnalynn and Regina will finalize the contract and work
on preliminary logistics for Pema Osul until the Ino takes over.
